helvella - Thyroid Blog
You might or might not know that I have been accumulating information about thyroid issues in my blog - I have created a significant number of pages now. Many will be aware of some of the specific pages which I link to quite regularly. But you might not have realised what else is there. Below is a copy

Ammonia smell
Do any of you have a scent of ammonia about you? I could swear I am smelling it on myself, and don't know who to ask around me. It could be in my mind because I've read you can get that smell with Kidney Disease. Otherwise my sense of smell is a bit poor, so it really could be my imagination. Any help

My 10 year Anniversary is coming up on 7/16/2014. I'm not doing well.
My mom was 52 years old when she was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. She lived another 24 years. It wasn't a good quality of life for the last 10 of them with her LBD. I was 52 years old when I was poisoned. I outlived my ALS prognosis of 3-5 years. My ALS progression has been slow - but poisons

Someone finally said the quiet part out loud.
Parkinson's is a manmade disease. So is Alzheimer's and ALS. Lewy body dementia is a medication side effect. https://youtu.be/I4t9OAhCANY?si=W- Thank you akgirlsrock for posting this video. Don't be misled by the use of the word "pesticides" it's an umbrella term that describes the intended use of the

Are you ready to kick neurotoxins to the curb?
You can start by not eating them and clean up your diet. The next step is to remove neurotoxins from your personal care and cleaning products. Edit: Would you be more motivated to change your lifestyle if you understood how Roundup is used and why it's poison? Roundup kills any actively growing plant

Cirrhosis but no change in bloodwork
Diagnosed with fatty liver 10 years ago. Recently had a CT done for kidney stones and it showed Nodular liver. I was shocked. The weird part is my blood tests over the last 10 years always came back normal or just slightly elevated AST/ALT so doctors never thought there was a problem. Even now my standard

any experiences with kefir?
I kept hearing kefir was supposed to be good for gut health so I started drinking a glass of it in the morning. Done for four days, but I'm now experiencing masses of wind and I'm wondering if it's the cause. I looked it up and found it's high in lactose unless it contains lactase. So maybe that's

Ammonia Level
Hello! I am writing to ask about ammonia level 104. My family member has cirrhosis and previous Hep C. Currently they are in the hospital due to elevated ammonia levels. When the ammonia level rises it causes extreme impairment and lethargy. Two weeks ago they had scan of liver and it came back nothing

Bruising, HE and Itching
I’m newly diagnosed with cirrhosis from NAFLD and trying to sort all this out. What causes bruising? I have normal platelets, albumin and INR. Why do I have bruises in odd places? They’re in areas where I know can’t be from bumping into something. Another thing I have is brain fog and insomnia,

Cirrhosis with vomiting and diarrhea
Spouse has confirmed Cirrhosis via biopsy, physician says stage 4. Also hepatic encephalopathy, no varices, mild ascites. Stage 4 fiber study, 67% stiffness of liver. He continues to drink 10 to 12 beers a day and 3 to 4 shots of whiskey. He refuses to quit drinking, also refuses to take the medication

NON CIRRHOTIC LIVER DISEASE
Hi all, I am trying to learn about non cirrhotic liver disease, unlike the more common NAFLD and alcohol related liver issues, there isn’t a lot of decent information to be found. As in my case LFTs always come back normal with ALT/AST only slightly raised, fibroscan stiffness low 3.5 kpa. But continue

Advice please on latest results.
Very confused what my next step should be re. dose of Levo and brand of liquid Levo to aim to continue on, though stock shortages may not allow a choice. Previous bloods indicate Central Hypo. Now have 3 nodules on thyroid, U2 type. Started Levo 8/3/22 on 25mcg tablets and changed to 50mcg liquid levo

Tinnitus
Had tinnitus and bad headache when waking for about a year which recedes slowly when erect,I have cirrhosis with usual side crap.It seems ammonia from cirrhosis has capability to cross the blood/csf barrier in the brain which can lead to a plethora of symptoms which I think will remain largely unfathomable
