Prophylaxis antibiotics- Bronchiectasis
Hi, I have finally been given a treatment plan by my consultant and I have been put on Azithromycin 3 times a week for the next 4 months as I have had lots of chest infections. Was just wondering how long other people are on this drug for and do you come off it to see how it goes? It does seem to be

Stem cell transplant (SCT) 15 months on
I'm now 15 months after my SCT and in my my recent review my figures are improving:WBC 4.0 HB 139 Neut 2.3, lymph1.12 and platelets 106 ( highest for a couple of years). I also had my CD4 lymphocytes measured and can now come off Acyclovir and pentamidine. Hooray! I hated those nebulisers. This leaves

relapses post infection
hi all, hope everyone is doing okay? š Iāve had infections on and off now since October 2023 and also a recent bout of pneumonia in March. Iāve had countless courses of oral antibiotics, 2 rounds of IV antibiotics at home and I relapse every time the treatment is finished. This time around I really

OPEP therapy for bronchiectasis
17 months of sticky mucus and blocked airways have resulted in many courses of different antibiotics, a bronchoscopy, lung wash, scans, x-rays. I've had diagnoses of asthma, bronchiectasis, nasal polyps, though scans show no bronchiectasis. Tests do show the persistent presence of HIB, which my doctor

Azithromycin vs Tezpire/tezepelumab
Hi there. I was wondering if anyone on these drugs can give input into what works best for them. I randomly got diagnosed in my 30s with asthma last year, normally fit and well. I have been in and out of hospitals since last year with horrific exacerbations, and have been unable to work for a year

Waiting anxiously for CT results- Part 2
Hi all, you may remember my first post last week while I anxiously waiting my CT scan results and today I've had them. As expected there is some deterioration and there is some 'solid scar tissue around the airways in the lung bases, along with slightly more prominent dilation of the airways'. Is this

GI Report and recommedations
Ok so I have the written report from the GI consultant which thank goodness is overall very reassuring. Advice now at recommends continued treatment with dietary changes, frequent and small meals, no spicy and nothing 3-4 hours prior to bedtime. Although in all honesty laying down is not a major issue

Scalp infection and Amoxicillin
I've had a really uncomfortable scalp and beard infection for the last 4 years (red angry spots, some puss filled, which really swell up and are painful) and the only thing which really helps is Amoxicillin (which clears it up for about a month). But.... my doctor won't regularly prescribe it to me,

Does anyone else take Azithromycin 3 times a week prophylactic? Just wondering if you have to take your rescue antibiotics due to chest infection, do you stop the Azithromycin?

Haemophilus influenzae
I have had an unsuccessfully treated lung infection for a year, with HI(b) being one of the bacteria identified. I have taken five different antibiotics including cotrimoxazole, doxycycline and azithromycin (two of which I've taken two courses of). I have had a lung wash, CT scans, X-rays, I am prescribed
