I'm betting no one has a good answer to this one, but what the heck, nothing ventured...
I'm not sleeping well at night for the last few weeks. Waking and half-waking all through the night.
Why:
The weather is miserably hot in the daytime and cold at night. I can't have the portable AC put in the window yet or the nights will be too cold for me and, even more so, too cold for my baby. 🦜
My house is poorly insulated and it's too hot to sleep peacefully with the window closed.
I'm trying to solve this one, but I suspect the solution is imaginary.
sorry nothing comes to mind ( think the budgie will be warm enough though with the window open, put a cover over her .that’s a peregrine falcon nest and a wood pigeon is stealing some loot for its own looks like …I’ve got a tawny owl twit twoo ing outside my window keeping me awake now
I like your interpretation lots better than mine. I thought the dummy was building a nest. Looks like the Peregrine thinks so too. Or at least "What the heck? This is one dumb bird."
I was going to suggest a fan also. Covering the bird is a good idea so you could open the window a bit. My mom covered her canary every night. She put him to bed same time every night. Routine…wonder where I got that from?🤔
This sorta works for me and the cat; have a few large/2 liter *plastic* bottles of water in the freezer (only 7/8th full or they'll burst and NO glass). I swap them out over the day and place them by a fan for cooler airflow near the cat. Put them in a bowl if the condensation is too much and leaves puddles. Swap bottles as needed, I have several by the fan at a time. This sadly only works best in an isolated/closed space though... may be a little much for a small birb
Orson Welles? Where'd that come from? I'm willing to attribute the quote to him if you say so.
I could easily set the AC control or turn it off at night, that's not the problem. If I put it in too early, 40 to 50 degree (F) air leaks in around the sides of the unit. Brrr.
Dad taught me via Socratic method. Would have been lovely if I'd been a bit older. Pretty much warped my childhood. He even put pebbles in my mouth, Demosthenes, remember? Hemlock would have been handy.
One of many, my friend. And very much appreciated. You made me learn the difference between a bird sanctuary and an aviary. 😁 A sanctuary is a safe place………
