Possible stroke ?

Hi everyone I was discussing medications issues with surgery pharmacist yesterday. He asked why I was taking Clopidogrel (I am having serious oseophagal spasms) then said oh yes possible stroke. I am stunned no one has mentioned this to me. As far as I knew my GP moved me from aspirin to Clopidogrel due to my acid reflux. Anybody else had similar problems. I am also on Felodipine 75mg and just started statin.

If you have good reason to believe you have had a stroke, as suggested by the pharmacist, perhaps you should discuss this with your GP to talk it through and find out what implications that may have for you.

Hello :-)

I can only imagine the shock at hearing that said to you must have been like

I would make an appointment with my Doctor and ask if this is true and why you have not been informed and in the meantime I am hoping the pharmacist has made a mistake

Let is know how you get on :-) x

Dear Bobby

I would guess that the clopidogrel could avoid you having a stroke. I love Clopidogrel. Keeps my migraines at bay. You can’t have a full stroke and not know about it. There are transient strokes which are often referred to as mini strokes. They are generally mega migraines. And a warning to avoid a full stroke.

Best wishes

C.

I recommend that everyone requests a copy of their medical records. I have found a number of things out about my own health that I was never told about.

Likewise ☹️

I requested a copy of mine to help fill in the application form for travel insurance. There was an entry put on by the nurse saying I had ischaemic heart disease , which I don’t have. I even had to get the cardiologist secretary involved. It was eventually removed and got an apology from the practice manager. The implications of it being on my records and me not putting it on the insurance policy would have beer horrendous in the event of a claim.

Actually, I have an allergy recorded that isn't an allergy - have to explain this every time in appointments etc. Not a particularly major issue in reality, but from peoples comments here, it could just be the thin end of a wedge, umm...

It's an anti clotting drug so presume it's to prevent strokes

Thanks yes I knew that. It's the stroke comment that's frightened the life out of me. Ringing surgery today. All the best.

That's disgraceful, I can imagine the shock prevented you from asking there and then. Go back today and ask the pharmacist where s/he got this information. It must be in your notes, but written by whom? The hospital or the GP. No matter who, they should have told you 😡
