I thought I would share with you my experience of a cough due to ramipril in case it helps someone else as I didn’t believe it would cause such an awful cough.
I was prescribed ramipril after having a HA in July last years. No side effects at all. I got an awful cold in November which also came with a cough which lasted a long time, i then got covid on 2nd January and the cough continued. When I say cough it was a cough that actually made me retch, my eyes and nose steamed with it and I peed myself too, all very embarrassing! I was constantly sucking on cough sweets to keep it under control. I went to GP in Feb was sent fir chest X-ray as was having issues with breathlessness too, all clear. All information I had read about cough due to ramipril was that it was a dry cough. Anyway I decided to call my gp a couple of weeks ago a different one this time who suggested that it might be the ramipril and prescribed a new drug. The cough has all but gone so it must have been the ramipril where I had put it down to my cold and covid as I would never have believe that a little tablet woukd cause such a terrible cough as what it does is make some peoples cough reflux super sensitive. I couldn’t eat certain things, drying my hair with hairdryer caused a massive coughing fit, certain ways I swallowed seemed to trigger it. So am hoping this helps someone else.
