Lighting Services FAQs

Do you need an electrician to install new lights?

Usually, you should hire an electrician to install entirely new lights. For example, if you want to install recessed lighting in a place where it did not previously exist, an electrician will wire those lights and set up switches. These tasks, while possible for homeowners, are not recommended as DIY projects.

Can you install a light yourself?

Yes, though we do not recommend installing a new light by yourself. If you need to replace a bulb or add a different type of fixture where a light was previously located, it may be possible to do on your own. In general, we recommend calling an electrician to install a new light in your home.

How much does it cost to put lighting in a house?

The cost of adding new lighting to a home varies greatly depending on how many fixtures are being added, where they are being added, and if there were existing fixtures in place. A single addition of a lighting fixture would be at a minimum task level while a larger scale installation involving several areas of lighting would result in a higher task level charge.

Do electricians fix light fixtures?

Electricians repair wiring issues and other electrical problems related to lighting fixtures. Most electricians do not repair damage to the fixture itself, for example, a bent arm on a chandelier.
